Ednan Tofik-Ogly Agaev ((ロシア語:Эднан Тофик-Оглы Агаев)) (born 25 October 1956) is a Russian career diplomat.
Agaev graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1979, and went on to work in various diplomatic posts in the central offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and abroad.
Ednan Agaev has been a Director of Moscow office of KAMS law firm 〔http://kamslaw.com/en/team/〕 since 2013. KAMS is a French law firm founded by Russian speaking lawyers, with offices in both Paris and Moscow. KAMS’s mission is to help all clients in all their endeavors that take place in these two strategic cities as well as in Eastern European countries and Central Asia.
Mr. Agaev was a Partner at Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners in 1999 - 2013. As Head of the Firm’s international consulting department, he managed international projects on behalf of some of Russia’s leading companies and served as a local counsel to transnational companies in Russia and CIS.
Mr. Agaev is Senior Vice-President of Russian-American Business Council, the non-profit organization promoting the Russian business interests in the framework of USA-Russia relationship and advising both USA and Russian governments about the concerns of the Russian business community.
Ednan Agaev has been a career diplomat. He started his career in 1980 joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, and then at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
In 1980 – 1986 he was seconded to the United Nations Secretariat, in particular the United Nations office in Geneva (UNOG) and the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR).
In 1986 – 1994 he held various senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, and then at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, including Head of the Multilateral Disarmament Division, Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Director of Foreign Policy planning and forecast. During this period Mr. Agaev attended different international forums and negotiations among others, the Conference on Disarmament (negotiations on the nuclear test ban treaty, negotiations on the ban of chemical weapons) regular and special sessions of the United nations General Assembly. He also represented the Russian Federation at the First Committee of the UN General Assembly (issues of the international security).
In 1991 – 1994 he was co-chairman of the Russian Foreign Policy Foundation, the non-profit organization aimed at promoting the cooperation between the Russian Foreign Service and the Russian business community.
In 1992 – 1995 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the UN Secretary General on disarmament.
In 1994 – 1999 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Colombia.
In 1999 – 2005 he was a professor of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ednan Agaev has large network of international contacts, political and diplomatic as well as business.
Agaev speaks Russian, English and French.
